Thanks to the Partridge Creek Gun Club this class will offer students an opportunity to shoot skeet at no cost (Participating in the Range activity is not mandatory). SCDNR will provide the use of a variety 20 gauge shot guns, ammunition and skeet. Student may bring their own shotguns but if 12 gauge please bring your own ammunition. Range activity will be at the end of the classroom training so all firearms must be brought unloaded and in a case.

The South Carolina Hunter Education Class is recommended for students 12 years of age and older with good reading and comprehension skills with some firearm and hunting knowledge or experience. Course materials are on a 6th-grade reading level. While we do not discourage any age from attending the class, only children age 10 and older may take the final exam. Note: Students under 12 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

All residents and non-residents born after June 30, 1979, must complete a hunter education course before a hunting license can be obtained.
The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Hunter Education Program is dedicated to the safe enjoyment of our outdoors. Through this program, students learn about responsibility and ethics in the field, as well as firearms safety.
